Bellevue man arrested in connection to Portland hotel murder | Victim believed involved in sex trafficking

Portland Police detectives arrested a 24-year-old Bellevue man Wednesday in connection to the death of an alleged victim of sex trafficking at the DoubleTree Hotel Lloyd Center on Dec. 26.

Portland Police detectives arrested a 24-year-old Bellevue man Wednesday in connection to the death of an alleged victim of sex trafficking at the DoubleTree Hotel Lloyd Center on Dec. 26.

The body of 24-year-old Ashley Benson of Vancouver was found the day after Christmas in the stairwell of the hotel. An autopsy determined homicide as the cause of death.

Tae Bum Yoon was arrested at Union Station after arriving in Portland, following an investigation by Portland detectives with assistance from the Bellevue Police Department. He is set to be arraigned in Multnomah County Court today.

Bellevue Police Ofc. Seth Tyler said Yoon was involved in sex trafficking, and the BPD was asked to assist Portland Police early in their investigation, as the Bellevue man quickly became the top suspect. Tyler said the BPD continues to make curbing human trafficking a high priority.
