Thistle Theatre, a puppet theatre for families, will present the Three Billy Goats Gruff at the Bellevue Youth Theatre, 16661 Northup Way in Bellevue.

The production tells the story about the Billy Goats Gruff and their attempt to cross a bridge. The Bridge Troll faces off against the Billy Goats and a friendly Water Troll.

Thistle Theatre is the only performing arts organization in the Pacific Northwest that specializes in Bunraku, an ancient Japanese style of puppetry. The puppeteers, dressed head-to-toe in black to suggest invisibility, operate all of the character’s limbs with rods from behind.

Shows will be at 2 and 4 p.m. on May 24-25 and 2 and 4 p.m. on May 31-June 1.
