Music Works Northwest will begin its free First Friday Concert series at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct 3 with Daniel Barry, Walk All Ways. The concert series offers the community a chance to attend live performances by professional musicians from the Pacific Northwest and beyond in an intimate setting with great acoustics, Music Works’ Studio B.

Daniel Barry, Walk All Ways gathers sounds and styles from classical music, jazz, ethnic and world music. The music evokes mental images of the rain forest, 18th century Europe, the Caribbean Islands and the rugged peaks of the Andes.

“Our music tells the story of our lives. The places we’ve been, our friendships, loves and adventures,” Barry said. “Generally we allow the music to speak for itself, however with this performance we are projecting images in loose association with the music to offer additional context.”

Other highlights of the 2008-2009 First Friday Concert series are the Sammamish Brass Ensemble on Dec. 5 and Music Works flute faculty member, Klaus Liebetanz, on March 6.

Music Works Northwest is a non-profit community music education center offering music lessons and performance experiences for all ages (infant through adult). Music Works Northwest is located at 14360 S.E. Eastgate Way, Suite 102, Bellevue.
