Holiday Homes Tour returns with 5 homes for viewing, inspiration

Typically, the bright colors of a peacock are not synonymous with the holiday season, but Colleen Eastman of Clyde Hill has made the feathered friends seem right at home amidst the garland, ribbon and holiday ornaments along the grand banister in her entry way.

The vibrant blues and greens of the peacock-inspired theme is a welcoming sight to the traditional red and green holiday decor on display this time of year. Eastman’s home is one of five, opening their front doors to the community for the 14th annual Holiday Home Tour event, benefiting the Assistance League of the Eastside.

The other featured homes on the tour, which takes place Dec. 4, will be in the Newport Shores, Medina and Clyde Hill neighborhoods.

“I was thrilled to be asked to participate this year and open my home to the community,” Eastman explained, a supporter of the Assistance League of the Eastside. “Instead of hiring a decorator, I’m going to enlist the help of girlfriends. It’s a lot more fun that way.”

Eastman’s home will include two grand Christmas trees on the main floor and smaller ones throughout the other rooms of the house. Each room will be transformed with a different holiday theme.

Volunteers from the Assistance League will be decked out in Santa hats and holiday cheer, welcoming guests as they arrive at each home. The holiday home tours will give participants the opportunity to walk through each one of the five homes and view the holiday decorations and festive themes.

Instead of providing bus services as in previous years, guests will be given a map of the homes and can visit each one at their own leisurely pace.

Last year’s event sold more than 1,200 tickets for the exclusive home tour and raised approximately $4,500 through ticket sales and raffle items benefiting the Assistance League of the Eastside.

A complimentary wine and appetizer party will follow the Holiday Home Tour Celebration at Sur La Table at The Shops at The Bravern from 6-9 p.m. Appetizers will be provided by Toscano Restaurant and guests will receive a 15 percent discount off purchases.

Tickets to the tour are $30 and are available at www.eastside.assistanceleague.org or by calling 425-556-5106.
