The Bellevue Youth Theatre will present free public performances traditional Indian dance and a performance of the classic play Puss in Boots in August at the Theatre at Meydenbauer.

The performances will be noon to 1 p.m. and again from 4-5 p.m.

At noon and 4 p.m., traditional Indian dance will be performed by M. Subhashini Vijay Santhanam’s “From Within Nucleus.” The dance originated in the temples of South India, and Santhanam says they perform and teach this ancient dance form because they want “to share the joy of this dance to get acceptance for the art form as common and accessible as ballet is today.” The performance is funded by the Bellevue Arts Commission.

The dance will be immediately followed by Puss in Boots, performed by Bellevue Youth Theatre day camp participants ages 5-12. In this classic tale, Puss helps the youngest son of a miller find fame and fortune. Using his wit and help from his friends, Puss outsmarts the whole kingdom to get what he wants.

Admission is free and no reservations are required. Seating is first come, first served. For more information about the Bellevue Youth Theatre, call 425-452-7155 or e-mail byt@bellevuewa.gov
