BCC play ‘Not Just Ramps’ deals with disabilities

The dignity and independence with which people with disabilities face the day-to-day challenges of their lives will be represented on stage when Bellevue Community College hosts “Not Just Ramps,” by California-based Had To Be Productions, in two free, public performances Oct. 23.

The dignity and independence with which people with disabilities face the day-to-day challenges of their lives will be represented on stage when Bellevue Community College hosts “Not Just Ramps,” by California-based Had To Be Productions, in two free, public performances Oct. 23.

The presentations begin at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the college’s Carlson Theatre, followed by audience/actor discussions. A reception with the actors also follows the afternoon event.

Carlson Theatre is located in the E Building on Bellevue Community College’s main campus (3000 Landerholm Circle S.E., Bellevue.

“Not Just Ramps” is a series of dramatic vignettes in which characters with disabilities such as blindness, spinal injury, deafness, ALS (Lou Gerhig’s Disease) and cerebral palsy, among others, reveal their innermost thoughts and robust senses of humor in response to the challenges of their everyday lives.
