The Bellevue Wolverines girls soccer team put together a memorable season on the soccer pitch in 2017.

The Totems compiled a total of 158 team points. Members of the varsity roster consisted of Anna Troje, Sierra Rosenow, Kona Kao, Kayla Chenier, Tesslyn Matthes, Lilje Stratton, Jillian Weber, Kylie Beagles, Katie Walz, Isabella Voight, Jamie Chin, Jalynn Youngs and Erin Whipple. Sammamish was coached by Paul Craig, Alejandra Fuentes, Justin Fleming and Oey Chang.

The Wolverines, who compiled a total of 281 team points, won a state title for the first time since the 2006 season. Bellevue athletes Elena Acevedo, Eleanor Casey, Katie Duff, Delora Li, Janelle Rudolph, Rylee Siripipat, Aneta Wyzga, Rachel Jin and Sarah Walsh competed at the state meet. The Wolverines were coached by Andy Hay, Lisa Van Loben Sels, Mckenzie Schroder, Oey Chang and Ale Fuentes.

The Saints compiled 92 team points. Kamiakin captured first place with 55 team points (low score wins in Cross Country). Interlake senior Dante Paszkeicz captured ninth place individually with a time of 15:41. Saints’ senior Matthew Roberts earned 11th place with a time of 15:45.7.

Wolverines dominate Kangaroos in homecoming game

Photo courtesy of USTA                                A Bellevue-based women’s tennis team, which was representing the United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest Section, wound up as co-champions with three other squads at the USTA Adult 18 over women’s National Championships at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama on Oct. 22. The Bellevue squad was scheduled to play in the semifinals on the morning of Oct. 22 against a squad from Memphis, Tennessee, but the contest was rained out. The other semifinal featuring teams from Jacksonville, Florida and Chesterfield, Missouri was also rained out. As a result, all four teams were crowned co-champions of the event. Members of the Bellevue roster consist of Arpana Goel, Anna Graves, Anna Reche, Anne Wilson, Claudia Huzar, Ginevra Smith, Heather Lin and Jillian Lee.
