Games get rolling in new venture

What could be better than a multi-gaming theater equipped with six LCD flat screen televisions, four Xbox 360 consoles, two Playstation 3 game stations and two Ninetendo Wiis?

How about a state-of-the-art outfitted gaming theater gone mobile.

Local residents Lance Salisbury and Bob Washburn have launched Games2U, a video game and entertainment mobile trailer that brings the high-tech setup to people on the Eastside and Seattle.

The 32-foot-long mobile gaming theater makes its presence felt with glowing LED lights, a 200-watt external sound system and iPod dock, a built-in exterior searchlight, and four 52-inch LCD flat-screen televisions on the interior. The trailer also features an interior seated bench, catering to 16 players at one time, ideal for Halo 3 tournaments, according to Salisbury.

If the interior gets a little cramped, there is always the option of moving the party outdoors for a round of Rock Band or to take in a good football game on the high-definition televisions on the exterior of the trailer.

“We are excited to bring the new biggest and baddest thing to events,” Salisbury said. “It’s perfect for birthday parties and team-building events.”

Salisbury and Washburn officially launched their Games2U franchise Nov. 23 and already have catered to a number of birthday parties along with an appearance in downtown Kirkland for the official Tree Lighting Ceremony, a preview event of the Apple Cup football game and a visit to the high-tech world’s of Nintendo and Microsoft for demonstration events.

Salisbury has been working in the party business since he was 15. He took on the title of general manager for Clowns Unlimited in 2001, a clown entertainers and event planning company owned by Bob Washburn.

The two have now taken on an equal partnership in the Games2U venture.

I’m always looking for the new idea – the groundbreaking new concept for the market,” Salisbury said. “I think we’ve nailed it.”

According to Salisbury, Games2U is the missing link for the 11- and 12-year-olds who are too cool for inflatables and bouncy toys. The insulated trailer keeps the noise levels limited and can be booked for an event for $229 an hour.

“We have all the games and all the systems from Mario Cart to Call of Duty. We make the kids feel like rock stars for an hour or two,” he said. “They have a blast.”

In addition to the mobile gaming theater, Games2U offers Hamster Ball rentals and outdoor laser tag setup.
