Free seminar to discuss workplace identity theft

A free seminar on workplace identify theft will be offered by Pamela Whitfield from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Bellefield Office Complex Conference Center, 1150 114th Ave. S.E.

Registration is at 11 a.m. and a light lunch buffet provided.

Whitfield is President/CEO of WBS and Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist, and CE Course Instructor for Washington State on Identity Theft.

The seminar will deal with on how the new FACTA Red Flag Rules affect a company, how to reduce the risk of a breach of records (over 38,000,000 records were lost or stolen at businesses in 2008) and how a person can protect their company’s profits as well as cost-effectively address the new laws that require immediate action.

Half of all identity theft happens at the workplace and businesses are being held liable. One out of every five Americans has already been a victim and Identity Theft cost businesses and individuals over $50 billion in 2007.

The seminar is for business owners with five or more employees. An RSVP is mandatory 48 hours before the event.
