Interlake running back Jordan Todd has found a place to continue his football career and pursue a degree at Central Washington University, he announced via Twitter on Sunday afternoon with, “Just committed to Central,” followed by the hashtag, “Wildcats.”
“I know he’s really excited,” Interlake coach Jason Rimkus said of Todd. “His whole life, he’s been told what he’s not because of his height and he’s excited to get to a place where they want him for what he is.”
Todd set the state rushing record in 2011 with 2,681 yards, going for 359 in his team’s 2A state quarterfinal game against Lynden to capture the record previously owned by Matthias Wilson, by just five yards.
The 2A State Player of the Year chose Central over Highlands University New Mexico among othersĀ and was pleased with Central’s commitment to recruiting him.
Joe Lorig, the Wildcats assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and special teams coach was the chief recruiter of Todd and remained visible to the Interake senior throughout the process. Rimkus said the Wildcats made contact with Todd as soon as was allowed under NCAA guidelines and was present at multiple games this season, including the state quarterfinal matchup to end the year.
