Eastside Football Club wins State Challenge Cup

The Eastside Football Club BU16 team won the State Challenge Cup title for the second consecutive year.

The Eastside team beat the Vancouver-based Columbia Timbers at Starfire Sports Complex 2-1 in overtime on March 7.

The team is based in Preston and includes several players from Bellevue including Mac Hewitt, Derek Culver, Josh Appelbaum, Hunter Stutsman and Sean Whitney.

The team will travel to Medford, Ore., in June to compete in the President’s Cup Regional tournament, where they will play against the top teams from California, Hawaii and Colorado.
