Thomas Herrington

January 9, 1928 – February 21, 2026

Thomas Herrington, 98, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in Bellevue, Washington, of natural causes.

Born January 9, 1928, in Schenectady, New York, to Merrill A. Herrington and Rachel Jankins, Tom was raised in Glens Falls, New York. An only child, he grew up in a close-knit household where his father worked as a baker and his mother cared for the home.

Tom earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and went on to serve his country with distinction in the United States Army. He first served from September 1946 to February 1948 as a radio technician (Tech 4), and later from June 1951 through October 1956 as a Communications Officer, attaining the rank of Major.

Following his military service, Tom built a career as a sales manager and insurance adjuster. Outside of work, he had a lifelong passion for automobiles and a deep appreciation for travel.

Tom will be remembered as an honest, warm-hearted, and deeply compassionate man. He was known for his quiet generosity and his willingness to help those less fortunate, often without seeking recognition. A private person by nature, he lived with humility and integrity.

Honoring his wishes, no formal services will be held. He will be laid to rest in New York, reunited with his parents.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Tom’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Smiles Foundation, his favorite charities.
