Yes, the world did survive

We’re here to report that the sun did rise this morning and the world didn’t end. And yet, Walmart opened a store in Bellevue.

Not to be facetious, but a small number of strident voices would have us believe that somehow Walmart and Bellevue are incompatible. Nonsense.

Walmart, like other major retailers, provides good products at good prices in good locations. It also provides good jobs. Cities need all of these to be economically successful.

We love The Bellevue Collection and The Shops at the Bravern. But they aren’t the best fit for every demographic in Bellevue.

Not only does the Walmart Neighborhood Market provide a service, but also its presence has enabled the Kelsey Creek Shopping Center to come alive with numerous small businesses.

We think this will be a winning combination for everyone.
