Watson sends Bellevue to title game with shutout | Prep sports news

The Wolverines are one win from a state tourney berth.

All year, Bellevue pitcher Nolan Watson has kept his team steady.

Thursday’s 3A KingCo Tournament opener was no different.

Watson worked a complete-game shutout, making a first inning RBI from battery mate Reid Hartmann stand up to send his team to the tournament title game tonight at 7 p.m. at Bannerwood Park.

Hartmann came to the plate with Brady Carlson on base and knocked a two-strike pitch down the right field line for the only run of the game.

The Wolverines still have work to do in order to earn the program’s first state tournament berth since 2009, and that begins with tonight’s game against the Wildcats.

The winner earns the conference’s automatic spot to state, while the loser will play either Juanita or Mercer Island Saturday at 4 p.m. before facing the fourth place Metro League team later that day for the district’s final spot.
