Bellevue residents who want a sidewalk built in their neighborhood can weigh in through an interactive map.

The Transportation Commission, along with city staff, is reviewing a list of candidate sidewalk projects in Bellevue’s neighborhoods and will collect comments from residents entered on the map, as well as those made the old-fashioned way, at an upcoming meeting.

In 2007, the Neighborhood Sidewalk program was established to fund modest projects – such as a few blocks of sidewalk along one side of a street. Such projects usually cost $300,000 to $2 million.

A list of community-identified candidate projects has already been narrowed down to 37; however, now the list needs to be prioritized for funding. There is $1.5 million in the program’s budget, so only a handful of projects are likely to be funded over the next three years.

Residents must submit comments by Sept. 12. They are also invited to comment on the sidewalk projects at the Transportation Commission’s Sept. 13 meeting, 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, Room 1E-113.
