Alexander Walker Early of Troop 638 in Bellevue, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout award. He is currently a Senior at Newport Senior High School.
Alex joined Troop 638 in 2005 after moving to Washington. Alex will be recognized at an Eagle Court of Honor on Saturday, March 27 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 14230 SE Newport Way in Bellevue.
Alex’s Eagle Project benefited Newport High School as he and team of volunteers completely overhauled the emergency supplies on hand at the school in case of emergency. They inventoried, replenished, categorized and updated the disaster preparedness supplies that will serve the school in times of need.
During his Scouting career Alex earned numerous achievements, including five 50 Miler Awards: two he earned from backpacking in the California Sierras, one while rafting on an 80 mile stretch of the Green River in Utah, one while riding and herding cattle on the Chisholm Trail in Oklahoma, and one while backpacking more than 80 miles at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
In the fall, Alex plans to attend a four year university studying food science and chemistry in pursuit of his dream of being a pastry chef.
