New Poet’s Society third annual poetry contest this year will include invitations to students at Interlake and Bellevue high schools to participate.

Those students, along with those from Eastlake, Redmond, and Best high school in the Lake Washington School District, will also compete for $500 to $1000 cash prizes plus gift certificates to local bookstores.

Interested students may enter two of their best, original, nonpublished poems of 30 lines or less. The copyright will remain the property of the author at all times.

Poems will be submitted to each student’s high school committee. A judge’s panel consisting of Northwest Poets will evaluate selected poems from each high school.

Cash donations, which are tax deductible, can be deposited in any Bank of America branch. Checks payable to the New Poet’s Society may be mailed to 13303 N.E. 75th St., Redmond, WA 98052.
