The Walmart Foundation has provided $50,000 to United Way of King County to fund after-school and summer meals.

“One in five kids are at risk of hunger and nearly 90,000 King County students receive subsidized lunches during the school year,” said Lauren McGowan, Associate Director of Ending Homelessness at United Way of King County.

Washington ranks 40th in the nation in participation of federal programs that provide free or reduced summer meals for children. Walmart Funds will help us serve more than 40,000 additional meals next summer.
