Elizabeth Kate Switaj earns doctorate

Elizabeth Kate Switaj of Bellevue earned her Doctorate in British Literature in December, 2012, from Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern ireland.
She attended Bellevue Schools from first through 12th grade, graduating from Sammamish High School in 1997, the same week she earned her Associate’s Degree from Bellevue College.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies from Evergreen State in 1999, and an MFA in Poetics and Creative Writing from New College of California, in San Francisco, in 2003.
Switaj has traveled around the world teaching English across the United States, and in Japan and China. Her poetry and prose has been published in journals such as the Chicago Review. Her anthology of poetry, Magdalene and the Mermaids was published in 2009.
She is the Assistant Managing Editor of Irish Pages: A Journal of Contemporary Writing and a Contributing Editor to Poets’ Quarterly.
