The signs, symptoms and treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and other anxiety-related problems will be the topic as Bellevue College and the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI-Eastside) host psychologist and OCD specialist Travis L. Osborne, Ph.D., in a free public lecture June 9.

The free, public event begins at 7 p.m. in room 201 of the N Building, located at the south of end of Bellevue College’s main campus.

A staff psychologist and the director of quality assurance at the Anxiety and Stress Reduction Center of Seattle, Osborne has extensive training and experience in cognitive-behavioral therapy, with a particular interest in the treatment of OCD.

He is a graduate of the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation’s Behavioral Therapy Institute, volunteers as a consultant to the OCD Support Group of Seattle, and is the co-founder and co-program director of Camp Deecio, an annual three-day camp for children and teenagers with OCD.

Osborne also serves as a clinical supervisor for University of Washington doctoral students and conducts seminars and training on the treatment of anxiety disorders.

His June 9 lecture, titled “Anxiety, Perfectionism, and OCD,” is the latest in a series of presentations on mental health topics sponsored jointly by NAMI-Eastside and Bellevue College. Prior topics have included bipolar disorder, ADD in adults, autism, Asperger’s syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Bellevue College’s main campus is located at 3000 Landerholm Circle S.E., Bellevue, at the intersection of S.E. 28 St. and 148 Ave. S.E.
