Here is a look at where local prep teams stand in the playoff picture for football, girls soccer and volleyball. I’ll have a post on individual sports including cross country, swim and dive, golf and tennis later today.
Football

Newport will face Bothell at 7 pm on Saturday at Pop Keeney Stadium in a league crossover game for a spot in the preliminary round of the playoffs the following week against the second seeded team from SPSL South, most likely Bethel. The Knights beat the Cougars back in week three.

Bellevue will be the top seed from 3A KingCo and will host the third seeded team from 3A WesCo, most likely Glacier Peak. The Wolverines host their regular season finale against Liberty on Friday at 7 pm.

Interlake’s win over Liberty last week guaranteed it one of the three playoff berths and a win at Juanita on Friday can give the Saints the top seed from 2A Seamount.
A loss to the Rebels will put Interlake’s fate in the hands of Renton, which faces Hazen and is the other team still in contention for that top seed.
It could also lead to third place finish and a spot in the same pigtail game they won last season to move on to the round of 32. The Foster-Lindbergh game will also come into play if Juanita can upset the Saints this week.
Girls Soccer

The Knights sit in a three-way sixth place tie with Garfield and Roosevelt with the top six teams in the regular season moving on to the 4A KingCo tournament, which begins on Saturday.
If Newport beats Garfield tonight and Roosevelt loses, the Knights will claim the sixth and final seed outright. Roosevelt, which defeated Newport back on Oct. 6, also controls its own destiny and can render the Garfield-Newport result meaningless with a win over Eastlake tonight.

Only one of the teams who begin the tournament seeded 3-6 will emerge to face a WesCo opponent for a spot in the 4A state tournament.

Regular season champ Liberty took the automatic berth to state while the 3-5 teams in the league will play for a spot in the pigtail game with the third seeded team from Metro for the second and final remaining state spot from the Sea-King District.
The first round of the tournament is on Monday, Oct. 31 at Lake Washington High School.

Interlake will be part of the 2A West Central District III tournament, which begins on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Each of the 10 teams in the tournament will play one game for a state playoff berth.
Volleyball

First place and once-beaten Newport, which faces Issaquah tonight in the final match of the regular season, can lock up the top seed in the 4A KingCo tournament with a win.

The top six teams from the league will make the 3A KingCo tournament, which begins on Thursday, Oct. 27. Bellevue will be the fifth seed in the tournament.
The top four teams will advance to the Sea-King District tournament the following week with the top six teams from the Metro League tournament. Five of those ten will earn state playoff spots.
2A
The sub-district tournament begins on Saturday, Oct. 29 with the top top 12 of 16 teams advancing to the West Central District III tournament the following week. Five of those 12 will move to the 2A state tournament at Evergreen State College in Olympia.

The top five teams from the district qualify for the tri-district tournament on Nov. 3. Six of the 12 teams in that tournament will advance to state.
