Students with tech startup dreams have flocked to a new startup incubator sponsored by the nonprofit StudentRND. The goal is to connect five teams of students with the resources and guidance they need to launch their own tech startup companies.

The students will work for eight weeks during the summer and, at the end of it, will demo the product or service they’ve created to the public on “Demo Day.”

To support the participants, StudentRND will host networking lunches, workshops, and provide dedicated mentors to work with each team.

“We believe students have a lot of potential,” said Edward Jiang, CEO of StudentRND. “We’ve seen some amazing things at our space and at CodeDay, and we want to help students reach their potential.”

StudentRND is a nonprofit organization that inspires students to learn more about science and technology. Over the last year, StudentRND has provided resources and a physical workspace in Bellevue for students to work on various projects.

Several products have come out of StudentRND, including a plasma speaker, a tabletop touchscreen computer, and an electronic kit that sold over $18,500 worth of units last year.

The deadline to apply to the startup incubator is May 15, more information can be found online at incubator.studentrnd.org.
