Schools celebrate International Day of Peace

Two Bellevue schools celebrated International Day of Peace on Monday.

Students at Chestnut Montessori School and Eton School gathered on their campuses to sing a special song, “Light a Candle for Peace.”

They joined over 65,000 children in Montessori schools in 31 countries around the world to sing the song.

Beginning in New Zealand and ending in the Hawaiian Islands, the song was passed around the world from Montessori schools in different time zones to fill an entire day with childrens’ voices singing about peace. Eton School children sang at 11:06 a.m.
