Emily Perl Kingsley, a 20-time Daytime Emmy award-winning writer and proud mother of a son with Down syndrome, will headline a Kindering benefit to support infants and children with special needs.

Kingsley has been writing for Sesame Street since 1970 and was instrumental in expanding the show’s cast to include those with disabilities, including her son, Jason. Well known in the special needs community for her essay “Welcome to Holland,” Kingsley will share her stories and passion for bettering the lives of children with special needs.

Kindering, a Bellevue-based nonprofit organization helping infants and children, will hold its eighth annual Salute to Courage Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 17 at The Westin Bellevue. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. with the program starting a noon.
