Residents can get free bags of compost at various locations through April 15 as part of Compost Days. The free bags will be part of a scavenger hunt to find “Corey,” the Compostable Apple Core character, by using an online map.
With every Corey found, participants will receive a coupon for a free bag of Cedar Grove Compost, and be entered to dig through a school-bus size pile of compost for $1,000 in prizes at the Big Dig Event at Renton’s McLendon Hardware, Sunday, April 14th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Residents can find Corey at these locations around Bellevue:
Cedar Grove, 969 118th Ave. SE; Ace Hardware – Crossroads, 653 156th Ave. NE; and Haggen NW Fresh, 15751 NE 15th St.
Compost Days is a regionwide campaign to thank Snohomish and King County residents for diverting 350,000 tons of food and yard waste in 2012.
