Bellevue dominates Glacier Peak in state tournament opener | Prep football news

The five-time defending 3A state champion Wolverines made quick work of Glacier Peak, advancing to next week's quarterfinals with a lopsided win.

On a night when one multiple-time defending state champion on the gridiron fell in Skyline’s 26-20 loss to Federal Way, another once again looked the part of nationally-ranked power on Wolverine Way.

Brothers Sam Richmond and Max Richmond each had a touchdown and senior standout Budda Baker had two of his own as Bellevue stormed to another dominant win, 48-6 over Glacier Peak in the opening round of the 3A state tournament.

The Wolverines built a 34-0 halftime lead en route to the win, eliminating the Grizzlies from Snohomish from the playoffs for the third time in the past six seasons and punching its ticket back to the quarterfinals.

Bellevue will face Peninsula, which beat Bonney Lake 30-7 in another first round game, next week for a spot in the Tacoma Dome.
