Firefighters were still hosing down hotspots at A&M Auto Repair Wednesday afternoon, after responding earlier that morning to a two-alarm fire at the building on Southeast 27th Place.
Fire Lt. Rich Burke said College Hill neighbors reported seeing flames around 1 a.m., and an engine responded shortly after.
“The entire center of the two-story structure was fire through the roof,” he said. “We struck a second alarm.”
The Bellevue Fire Department received aid from Mercer Island to tackle the blaze, which also spilled into office space for Superior Towing on the 13000 block of Southeast 27th Place.
“We were able to get into the office space and retrieve some of the equipment, computers and stuff,” Burke said, adding firefighters are attempting to retrieve several security cameras from the building to assist with the department’s investigation into the cause of the fire.
