Published 3:43 pm Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Ecohaus in Bellevue will test children’s toys for toxic chemicals from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 9.

The event is in partnership with the Washington Toxics Coalition and members of the sustainable community on the Eastside.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children. On-site child care will be provided during the event. People are invited to bring 3-5 plastic products, especially toys, to be tested.

WTC representative Jim Dawson will give a presentation on the problem of toxic chemicals in consumer products. The discussion will include tips on how to avoid bringing dangerous chemicals into your home, and what is being done at the state and national level to address this problem.

Attendees at the event also will have the opportunity to learn about “greening” their family celebrations from the authors of Celebrate Green and peruse the toxin-free offerings of organic baby clothier Kate Quinn Organics.

The event is free. People should RSVP to susannas@ecohaus.com.

Ecohaus is located at 13131 NE 20th St.
