After a slow start in the first quarter, The Bellevue Wolverines (1-1) pulled away from the Newport Knights (0-2) for a 32-3 victory.

The Knights opened the scoring at Newport High School with a field goal to take a 3-0 lead. Newport carried the three-point lead into the second quarter before Bellevue took control of the game. Bellevue got on the scoreboard when running back Alex Reid scored on a 37-yard touchdown run to put them up 7-3 late in the second quarter. The Wolverines would add a field goal and another touchdown before the half to take a 17-3 advantage into the break.

In the second half, the Bellevue defense shut down the Newport offense. The Wolverines would add two more touchdowns to finish off the Knights 32-3.

The Knights will look to bounce back at home against Mercer Island (1-1) on Friday, Sept. 20. Bellevue will try to keep the momentum rolling when they host the formidable Garfield Bulldogs (1-1) on Friday, Sept. 20.
