Bellevue seniors show thanks for police officers | Group delivers homemade cards, treats to department

A dozen Bellevue retirees visited the Bellevue Police Department on July 18 to show their appreciation for law enforcement following attacks across the nation.

Residents of Aegis of Bellevue dropped off homemade brownies and more than two dozen hand-written thank you notes as a way to express their love and support for the men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day, Aegis spokesperson John Yeager told the Reporter.

Seniors came up with the idea after a gunman shot and killed five police officers in Dallas during a Black Lives Matter rally earlier this month. Their visit happened to fall one day after three police officers were shot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
