Susanne Werner Ross of Bellevue earned a feature spot in Expressions 2015, a 15th edition calendar celebrating active aging and the arts. The calendar is published by Watermark Retirement Communities, a company that manages 38 communities nationwide including Pacific Regent of Bellevue, where Werner Ross resides.
Selected from hundreds of entries nationwide, Werner Ross’ mixed media piece, entitled “Rocky Mountain High,” is among 13 art pieces displayed in the full-color wall calendar.
“We’re so fortunate that residents like Susanne choose to thrive with us,” said Rick Guthrie, executive director of Pacific Regent. “Susanne is one of many talented artists in residence, though artistic talent is by no means a prerequisite to live here.
Free copies of Expressions 2015 are available while supplies last at 919 109th Ave. N.E. For more information, call 425-646-9808.
Born and educated in Germany, Ross began making art with watercolors, adopting other media in later years.
“My work is very much about process,” Ross said.
She is a member of the Women Painters of Washington, whose work is on display in the Columbia Tower in downtown Seattle. Ross also serves as resident curator for quarterly art shows at Pacific Regent.
“Some art activity every day keeps the doctor away,” Ross said.
She also enjoys hiking, swimming, cooking, baking and stained glass making.
