Karin Kidder will join Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) as director of marketing and communications on June 16. Kidder has worked in international marketing and business development for more than 17 years. She earned her master’s degree with a marketing concentration from London Business School in 2008 and has a bachelor of arts in Art History from Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
“We are thrilled to have Karin join the Bellevue Arts Museum team,” said Linda Pawson, BAM’s interim executive director, “Karin’s background in both the arts and in the business world will bring a unique perspective, and will enable us to enhance and broaden our reach to the community.”
When Kidder first moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1997 she worked with Foster/White Gallery in Seattle and became immersed in the Northwest arts community. Following her time at Foster/White she worked for glass artist Dale Chihuly, managing all of his gallery relationships worldwide. Subsequently she lived in London where she worked with London Business School’s Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship as the director of a number of their programs.
Most recently she was the director of marketing for Microvi Biotechnologies in Hayward, Calif.
She will be responsible for developing and implementing the museum’s communication strategies, including public relations, advertising, brand management, and digital and social media, and will be integral to engaging new and existing audiences.
“Bellevue Arts Museum has made significant strides in establishing itself as the premier destination to experience art, craft, and design, and has brought many Northwest artists international acclaim and exposure,” said Kidder. “In addition, the museum has enhanced our community by bringing international artists to the Northwest. I’m looking forward to broadening BAM’s reach, continuing to build its reputation, and to finding innovative ways to drive engagement.”
