A Young Writers’ Academy has been established in Bellevue and will launch its inaugural workshops this April during the spring break holiday in Bellevue and Redmond. It also will offer summer programs in June and July.

Shana Johansen of Academic Connections is project director.

The academy’s philosophy is to help young writers develop a love for writing by allowing them to write about topics of interest, while at the same time helping them to achieve a higher level of academic excellence.

The academy’s spring break session in Bellevue will be from April 8-12 at The Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center. The Redmond session will be at The Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center.

Summer camp will be held June 24-28 in Redmond and July 15-19 in Bellevue.
