Trull wins region title for Bellevue, Saints sending four to state | Prep wrestling roundup

Bellevue had a trio of wrestlers earn top three finishes at the 3A Region I meet, led by the championship at 220 pounds by senior Jimmy Trull.

Trull pinned Nolan Swartz of Sedro-Wooley in the first tound before doing the same to sophomore Raymond Qunday of Oak Harbor in the semi-finals. Jack Michels of Lake Washington was waiting in the final but was forced to bow out, giving Trull the victory by injury defeat and 220 pound title.

Senior Andy Ewing finished fourth at 126 pounds and Colin Small ended the tournament in sixth place at 145 pounds for the Wolverines.

Bellevue was 14th in the team scoring with 42 points, just behind KingCo foes Liberty and Lake Washington. Sedro-Wooley took the team scoring title with a tootle of 151.

David Yingling fought back from a pin in the first round to win his next three matches and finish in fifth place at 106 pounds for Newport, the highest finish for any of the Knights at the tournament.

In 2A, Interlake powered to a sixth place finish behind third place finishes from Jake Wilson at 145 pounds, Jacob Marks at 152 pounds, Alex Giseburt at 160 pounds and Chad Peterson at 220 pounds.
