Interlake running back Jordan Todd is closing in on the single season state rushing total.

Interlake dug itself into a 20-7 first quarter hole against top-ranked Lynden and never recovered, falling 55-28 in the 2A state quarterfinals on Saturday.

Senior running back Jordan Todd brought his team even early in the opening frame with a 80-yard touchdown run, but the Lions reeled off four consecutive scores to head into halftime with a 34-7 lead that would prove insurmountable.

Todd, who entered the game with 2,322 rushing yards and was outside the top-eight on the single-season list, tallied 359 more against Lynden to finish the season with the most prolific total in state history with 2,681 yards. He passes Ferndale’s Matthias Wilson, who set the mark with 2,676 in 1997 in 14 games.
