City worked with neighborhood for Meydenbauer Park

Bellevue citizens should be very pleased with recent unanimous decision by the City Council to approve the Meydenbauer Bay Park and Land Use Plan while incorporating detailed implementation principles.

Among other issues, the principles call for keeping 100th Street Southeast open unless numerous conditions are met, a specific phasing plan for park development, and a stipulated role for engaging the neighborhood and the greater community during each phase.

The Meydenbauer Bay Neighborhood Association, that I have had the honor to chair, was deeply involved during the past three plus years in the consideration of the park plan and its principles, and we wish to thank the entire council and City Manager Steve Sarkozy, for their willingness to listen, and to work collaboratively on these complex policy issues, now approved.

We are particularly grateful for the diligent and capable work of Councilwoman Jennifer Robertson, the liaison to the Park Board.

We look forward to the use of this wonderful park as it developed for the future. It will be a very real jewel for our city and the community in which we live and work.
