Income tax? Really socialism

I have to go along with the writer of a recent letter supporting our rich neighbors who might have yachts, second homes, private jets, and/or investment advisors.

Unlike most of us, they can use their wealth to create many jobs for boat builders, marina workers, construction workers, airplane builders, pilots, maintenance people, investment advisors, etc.

Many studies have shown that the wealthiest 10 percent of Americans pay well over half the federal income taxes, while the least-wealthy 50 percent get virtually free government.

Unfortunately there is a different “philosophy” espoused by the far left that believes success should be rewarded by making the wealthy pay virtually the entire cost of whatever bloated government the liberals can dream up. Such a bizarre scenario would mean the wealthy couldn’t spend and invest nearly as much, eliminating jobs and bringing the economy to a halt. The government would then take the tax money and distribute it to the now-unemployed boat and airplane builders, construction workers, maintenance people, etc.

It’s called “subsidizing unemployment.” “Philosophy” is probably a poor choice of words for what the far left is striving for; it’s really just socialism.
