When Karen Gnau came home Thursday afternoon, Aug. 26, she didn’t expect to see three bobcats sitting on her backyard fence. Yet, a mother and two cubs were perched there at the family’s home just down the street from Cougar Ridge Elementary School. (See more photos below.)

In between calling her husband and the Bellevue Police, she grabbed her camera to record the event.

A call to state state Fish and Wildlife agency confirmed the sighting. An official said it is unusual to see three bobcats at the same time, noting it was probably a mother and two cubs.

Gnau, who is from the Midwest, had never seen a bobcat before. The Fish and Wildlife official added that Gnau probably would not see them again.

Bobcats don’t bother humans, but are a risk to small cats or dogs that are left outdoors, particularly in the evening.
