Two Bellevue students were honored May 6 as recipients of Max Block awards honoring their individual contributions to strengthening intergroup relations and promoting understanding across racial, ethnic and social divides.
Award Recipients:
Andrea Zarate, of Bellevue Christian School, was honored for leading children activities, mentoring her peers, playing piano, flute, and sings. She will study music and education so “all children can learn music.”
Rima Arkas, of Bellevue High School, participates in the Earthbound Club and is involved with environmental and social concerns. She recently went to Syria, where she volunteered with the Red Crescent organization, motivating young Iraqi women refugees.
