Residents will have an opportunity to comment on Bellevue’s draft 2010 stormwater management program at the Environmental Services Commission meeting Thursday, March 4, 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE, conference room 1E-112.
Bellevue must submit a stormwater management plan to the state Department of Ecology each year that details the actions it takes to limit stormwater runoff pollution going into area streams, lakes and wetlands.
In 2009, the city adopted new development stormwater standards required by the state. In 2010, the city plans to do a field assessment of storm outfalls for illicit discharges.
Bellevue is one of more than 100 communities in Washington that meet annual requirements to keep its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Program Western Washington Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit. The permit is a federal Clean Water Act requirement.
The City Council will review and consider all comments received on the draft stormwater plan before approving it for submittal to Ecology. More details are available at on the city’s website.
