PSE checking natural gas system in Medina

Published 11:10 am Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Puget Sound Energy technicians and representatives from Heath Consultants will be in the Medina area this month and next to survey and do work on the natural gas system.

The technicians will require access to residents’ property to inspect the natural gas meter, but won’t need to enter homes.

The survey is in preparation for a project that will adjust the natural gas-system pressure to ensure continued reliability and meet growing demand for natural gas service in the area.

PSE representatives will drive trucks and walk up and down streets to inspect every part of the natural gas system – block by block, and house by house – using electronic equipment to detect natural gas leaks. They will be on private property only during daytime hours. If leaks are found, they will be repaired.

PSE and Heath Consultants representatives will wear uniforms and/or safety vests that say “Safety Inspection” on the back and will drive vehicles that show the respective company names. They also carry PSE identification badges that they will show residents if asked.
