Share the Dream concert set Jan. 17 in Seattle

Published 5:32 pm Tuesday, December 29, 2009

The annual Share the Dream concert to celebrate the life and enduring legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17 in Seattle.

For over 25 years, Share the Dream has been what Pastor Patrinell Wright, Director of the Total Experience Gospel Choir, refers to as the Puget Sound’s “community celebration” of Dr. King because its roots are in the local African American church tradition — the community that called, nurtured, and supported Dr. King as he pursued his dream of equality and opportunity for all.

Joining the Total Experience Gospel Choir at the event will be the Black Nativity Choir and Tacoma’s Allen AME Choir.

The concert, co-sponsored by KBCS-FM Community Radio, will be conducted as a benefit to aid the increasing number of local families that are reaching out for help from the Emergency Feeding Program of Seattle & King County. Although there will be no charge for admission, a freewill donation will be accepted.

The concert will be at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1634 19th Ave., Seattle.
