Cindy Scruggs’ 4th grade classroom at St. Louise School in Bellevue recently enjoyed a science unit on energy with hands-on learning. St. Louise Foss Science Kits, purchased by a gift from the St. Louise Parents’ Club, allow teachers and students to “experience” science together rather than the more traditional, one-dimensional, approach of simple “observation.”
The class was divided into four stations with each station representing a different form of energy. After the class rotated through the four stations, each student had experienced energy in the forms of solar panels, batteries and motors, candles and fire, and sound generation.
St. Louise School is a K-8 Catholic school which provides an education with a faith-based foundation. For more information about St. Louise School, visit their website at www.stlouiseschool.org.
