Volunteers sought to collect traffic data

The Bellevue Transportation Department needs volunteers to collect traffic data.
The city and state rely on traffic data to make decisions about where to put transportation dollars and how to improve safety. While there is ample data on cars, city officials say they do not know enough about how bicyclists and pedestrians travel.
That’s why the city, Cascade Bicycle Club, and the Washington State Department of Transportation want to count walkers and cyclists in early October. Among other things, the data from the counts will be used to inform investments in bike lanes, sidewalks, and educational programs.
Several volunteer jobs are available.
