A power outage occurred in downtown Bellevue this morning after a small animal came in contact with a Puget Sound Energy circuit protector.

The blackout started around 9:40 a.m., affecting areas between Northeast Eighth Street and Northeast 12th Street along both sides of the I-405 corridor.

Power was fully-restored by 2 p.m.

PSE spokesman Andy Wappler said the outage affected around 1,100 customers and numerous buildings in downtown Bellevue, including Overlake Hospital, Lincoln Square, the Paccar Building, and The Bravern – where Microsoft has offices.

Overlake reported that its power was restored around 10:30 a.m. Generators provided backup power to the hospital during the outage.
