Alex Schrempf to walk on at UCLA

Alex Schrempf, son of former Seattle SuperSonic Detlef Schrempf, will walk on to the UCLA basketball team next fall, Bellevue coach Chris O’Connor confirmed Thursday.

Schrempf, a 6-foot-5 forward who averaged 15.3 and 7.5 rebounds points for Bellevue this season, had been considering Sacred Heart University, Cal-Poly and Gonzaga, which had also offered a walk-on spot. Schrempf made the Associated Press 3A All-State team as an honorable mention this season for the Wolverines, who finished the season 26-3.
