Bellevue police on Jan. 28 responded to reports that a man was barricaded in his home and threatening to harm himself with a knife.

A SWAT team and negotiators were sent to a residence on the 9000 block of Northeast 1st Street.

Bellevue Police spokesman Ofc. Greg Grannis confirmed that the subject was not Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, despite speculation that police had surrounded the star football player’s home.

“He lives in the neighborhood, but it’s not his house,” Grannis said.

The first call to dispatch came from one of the subject’s family members around 12:32 p.m., according to police.

Police set up barricades along several blocks during the incident and were still waiting for the man to surrender at 4:30 p.m.

Medina police offered support and brought in a command vehicle during the standoff, according to Grannis.
