Taiwo sweeps jumps at KingCo championships

Jeremy Taiwo of Newport won the high jump (6-4), long jump (21-8 1/2) and the triple jump (47-3) at the 2008 KingCo Track Championships on Friday, May 9 at Liberty High School.

Other Newport winners included Jasmine Cho, who won the 400-meter dash in 57.28 and Natty Plunkett, who won the 3,200 in 11:10.93, distancing teammate and second-place finisher Jillian Altizer, who finished in 11:21.89.

Jason Marks of Interlake won the pole vault by going 14-9 while fellow Saint Richard Silva won the discus with a throw of 157-06.

Robert Hintz of Bellevue won the javelin with a throw of 184-07, while teammate David DeCastro won the shot put with a throw of 54-2.

Bellevue sisters Jessica and Cadie Kneip placed first and second, respectively, in the shot put.

Skyline won both the boys and girls team titles.
