Local cross-country runners compete at state championships

Cross-country runners from Bellevue-area schools took to the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco for the state championships on Nov. 9.

Newport: The Newport boys team placed 10th at the 4A state championships. Junior Brett Hanley was the top finisher for the Knights, placing 44th with a time of 16:10.00.

Interlake: The Saints boys team placed fifth overall at the 3A state championships. The top finisher for the boys team was junior Kaeden Brinkman, who placed 36th with a time of 16:13.20. In the girls race, sophomore Rachelle Cormier finished 82nd with a time of 20:13.60.

Bellevue: Senior Katherine Forsberg finished seventh overall in the 3A state championships with a time of 18:13.30. In the boys race, senior Gannon Forsberg finished 97th with a time of 16:58.50.

Sammamish: Sophomore Hale Behan finished seventh with a time of 15:49.80 at the 2A state championships.

Bellevue Christian: Senior Josh Clark was the top finisher for the boys team in the 1A state championship, finishing 108th with a time of 18:05.30.
