The Newport Knights gymnastics team won a district title for the first time since 2012 on Feb. 15 at Newport High School in Factoria. Newport finished in first place, tallying 175.350 team points. Newport senior Maddie LoMauro earned first place in vault, sixth place in bars and tied for fourth place in beam. LoMauro also earned first place in the all-around portion of the event. Freshman Bella Nilsen captured second place in vault, fourth place in bars, seventh place in beam, first place in floor and third place in all-around. Senior Carleigh Rendon tied for fourth place in beam and captured sixth place in all-around.
